Treatment and recuperation of common diseases

How does Western medicine treat this?

1. Treatment of the underlying cause: Sulfonamides are the first-line treatment. For patients who cannot use sulfonamides or are allergic to sulfonamides, other antibiotics should be selected. Penicillin G is ineffective for this disease.

(1) Sulfonamides:

Take 4 tablets of Compound Sulfamethoxazole orally, 4 times a day, for 1 week.

Take 1 gram of sulfathiazole or sulfamethoxazole orally, 4 times a day, for 7 to 12 days. For the former, take an equal amount of sodium bicarbonate.

(2) Tetracycline or erythromycin 0.5g, orally, 4 times a day for 10 days.

(3) Other antibiotics:

0.25g of ceftriaxone, administered intramuscularly once daily.

Amoxicillin 0.5g, orally, 3 times a day, for a total of 7 days.

Ciprofloxacin 0.5g, orally, twice daily, for a total of 3 days.

Spectinomycin 2g, intramuscular injection, once is sufficient.

If the above-mentioned drugs are ineffective for lymph node damage, add kanamycin 0.5g, intramuscular injection, twice daily for 10 days. Alternatively, administer gentamicin 80,000 units intramuscular injection, twice daily for 10 days.

2. Local treatment:

(1) Inguinal lymph node abscess: The abscess should not be cut open. Instead, a fine needle can be used to puncture and aspirate the pus, followed by the injection of sulfonamides or other antibiotics.

(2) Penile edema: If penile edema is obvious and does not subside for a long time, a longitudinal incision can be made on the dorsal side of the penis.

(3) Ulcers: For local ulcers, rinse the affected area with a 1:8000 potassium permanganate solution, sprinkle iodoform powder or sulfanilamide powder on the affected area, or apply antibiotic wet compresses or antibiotic ointment.

(4) Phimosis: If phimosis is present, circumcision should be performed, but it should be performed 2 to 3 months after the local lesion has healed.

How does Traditional Chinese Medicine differentiate syndromes and treat diseases?

1. Liver meridian damp-heat type: Symptoms include redness and swelling of the external genitalia, even local ulceration, discharge of yellow turbid fluid, dribbling and difficult urination, short, red, painful urination, red tongue with yellow and greasy coating, and slippery and rapid pulse.
